Presidential elections in Ivory Coast will hold in less than 15months. Ahead of this, political parties especially the opposition are bracing up preparations to make their voices heard.
Charles Blé Goudé, one time Minister of Youth has said that the presidential election will not happen without them.
The statement comes after former president Laurent Gbagbo, designated candidate of the PPA-CI, the Cojep of Charles Blé Goudé made it political comeback this weekend in Yamoussoukro. But the former Minister of Youth has still not declared himself candidate.
“Am I going to present my candidacy for the 2025 presidential election this evening: no! The only thing I can tell you is that I am ready to lead Ivory Coast. » In his speech which lasted more than an hour and a half, Charles Blé Goudé did not clearly say whether or not he was running for the presidential election which will take place in 2025. But the former minister under Laurent Gbagbo said: “2025 will not happen without us. This is a non-negotiable question and I accept it. »
He invited his activists and supporters who came in large numbers to register on the electoral lists when the time comes. He also called for the renewal of the Ivorian political class. “I called on young people to enlist massively to double the Electoral College. This seems important to me. » But at this stage, let us remember, Charles Blé Goudé is neither a voter nor eligible. This, due to a 20-year prison sentence, to which he is subject here in Ivory Coast, for facts linked to the post-electoral crisis of 2011.
Charles Blé Goudé raised the issue a little earlier in his message: “All those with whom I was convicted are either pardoned or amnestied, except me,” insisted the president of Cojep. “I am asking that a political solution be found to this question. I am not going to put Ivory Coast in chaos because I want to be a candidate. I appeal to those who have the opportunity to decide to ensure that this election is calm, peaceful and above all inclusive. »
The activists in any case came en masse to listen to the message of their leader, who took the opportunity to present his political project, based in particular on education, health and the fight against corruption.
For now, only the former Ivorian president and leader of the PPA-CI, Laurent Gbagbo, has officially announced his candidacy for the presidential election scheduled in 16 months.
