The president of the commision of the African Union (AU), HE Moussa Faki Mahamat recently paid a working visit to Mali during which he invited the different parties in the transition process to work in a spirit of consensus.
Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat at the end of his visit welcomed the notable progress noted in the implementation of the organs of the transition and the dialogue which animates all the Malian actors.
He invited the depending of consultations in particular the establishment of the National Transitional Council and the proper management of the transitional period.
Malian Authorities it should be noted have done a great job towards respecting the transition.
The president of the AU Commision, while in Mali, announced the activation of the monitoring and support committee for Mali, decided by the Peace and Security Council, in order to coordinate the participation and contribution of the African Union, the ECOWAS, the United Nations and other partners of Mali in the transition.
Moussa Faki Mahamat urged all the socio-political actors to prioritize the best interest of Mali during this delicate phase in the life of the Malian Nation and to work together to resolve the multidimensional crisis facing their country.
In a release that sanctioned the visit, the president of the AU Commision thanked all those who contributed and are contributing to the success of the transition.
Moussa Faki Mahamat was accompanied by the Commissioner for Peace and Security, HE Mr. Smail Chergui.
They met with the president of the transition, the vice-president, the prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation including all political and religious actors.
The mission also met with signatory parties to the Agreement for Peace and Reconciliation in Mali resulting from the Algiers process.
The working and solidarity visit to Mali was from Wednesday November 18 to 20, 2020.
