Gabon’s President, Ali Bongo has recalled the role of a minister in a government as a way to call his ministers to order.
Chairing the Council of Ministers last November 20, 2020, Ali Bongo recalled the fact that the mission of a minister is working effectively for the benefit of the greatest number, that is to say the populations.
The Gabonese president urged the government led by Prime Minister Rose Christiane Ossouka to resolutely respond to the expectations of their compatriots, through dynamism and exemplarity in the accomplishment of their republican mission.
The final communiqué issued after the council of ministers meeting that held through a videoconference, indicated that the president insisted on the imperative need for greater solidarity and a performance of all public actors in order to improve and raise higher the social commitment of the State towards the most vulnerable of the populations.
Despite the criticisms advanced by the president’s opponents, Ali Bongo is still very much active in exercising his duties. Ali Bongo Ondimba (ABO) still goes to his office on a regular basis, although he has the option of managing his staff’s work remotely from his private residence in the neighbourhood of La Sablière, located in northern Libreville.
The meeting was held through a videoconference as a result of the Corona virus pandemic. Only meetings of less than 10 people that are deemed to be essential continue to take place, with social-distancing guidelines enforced during such meetings.
