The Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh has opened fresh negotiations on SONARA refinery rehabilitation.
Reports have it that Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh has advanced in talks with Portuguese company Cimontubo regarding rehabilitation of Cameroon’s only oil refinery.
The idea is to relaunch the rehabilitation of the refinery project. The project is of utmost importance to Cameroon for it will secure the availability of petroleum products and at affordable prices across the country.
If this is realized, it will impact positively on other sectors in the country.
The rehabilitation agenda ties with the mission given to the new General Manager of SONARA, Harouna Bako, who took office last February 2024 by the Minister of Water and Energy, Gaston Eloundou Essomba.
He was among other issues charged to accelerate the reconstruction process of the National Oil Refinery which suffered a fire incident in 2019.
Cameroonians had long questioned why the delay in the rehabilitation of the refinery. Portuguese company Cimontubo, is seen as the perfect partner.
