The Minister of Basic Education, Laurent Etoundi Ngoa last week in the presence of administrative authorities of the Centre Region lay the foundation stones of two samples of a new model public schools in Cameroon; Afanaoyo at the Yaounde 3 subdivision council area and Nkozoa at the Soa subdivision on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 January 2021 respectively. The laying of the foundation stones is to kick-off the government program to build modern schools throughout the national territory.
The purpose of the construction of the model schools is to modernise the basic education school establishments and consequentially improve the learning conditions of pupils and working conditions of the teaching staff and personnel in general.
According to the Minister of Basic Education Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa, the decision to build these schools came after the President of the Republic observed that the nations primary schools are in bad shape. The Minister added that the wish of the Head of State is to provide a functional, sustainable and modern infrastructure to the youths.
The goal behind the Head of State action the Minister append is to make the Cameroonian pupil more brilliant. The ultimate goal for the President of the Republic is to bright and strong kits in the future.
The said modern schools are a type of schools likened to the Japanese model type of schools. These school whose first target shall be Education priority zones will be complete in cycle and infrastructure cost some 500, 000
Apart from modern pedagogic block made up modern classrooms and offices for the administration of the school and teachers, the schools will equally possess playgrounds, school canteen and a house on call for the teachers.
As such the first sample of this model school will be build in Afanoyo and Nkozoa in the Centre Region, Douala-Bonaberi in the Litorral Region, and Touborou in the North Region.
