The different Member States of the Economic Community of Central African States, ECCAS have agreed to unite their efforts in preventing cross-border conflicts.
A project to foster sustainable border governance has been officially launched in Yaounde.
The project is known as “Support Project to the ECCAS Border Programme”.
The launching ceremony took place Wednesday November 18, 2020 and was chaired by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji.
It equally saw the presence of the acting Head of the European Union Delegation in Cameroon, Francisco Bergeon alongside other Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Cameroon.
The objective is to prevent conflicts between African States and promote regional integration.
All Member States of the Economic Community of Central African States, ECCAS, are part of the project that will run from 2020-2022.
During this period, the existing borders in the Sub region shall be re-examimed, delimitated and demarcated.
The project encourages cross border governance, and the Member States of ECCAS have agreed to work as a team towards achieving the goal.
The Support to the ECCAS border project is commisioned by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office.
